Despite reporters taking pot shots from the sidelines, their hit pieces don’t detract from the fact the public-private sector partnership has been integral in President Trump’s unprecedented respond to the coronavirus.
President Trump’s response to coronavirus has led to an mobilization of government and the private sector unlike America has ever seen.
The Wall Street Journal notes it will be a “great blessing” that the pandemic response “was managed and subdued through vigorous localism, private enterprise and professional dedication, with the federal government providing essential national leadership but staying within its constitutional rails.”
As Jared Kushner explained on Fox Business, this partnership helped source over 1 billion pieces of PPE, helped set up Project Air Bridge, helped with collecting data to distribute ventilators, and mobilized testing.
And Rear Adm. John Polowczyk, the head of the supply-chain task force explained that volunteers “helped [the government] wade through the hundreds of false claims and turned over a few true sources to government action officers. Their efforts saved many government man-hours.”
NOTE: A public, private and volunteer partnership is nothing new when responding to a crisis: In addition to the Obama administration employing the use of volunteers, states including California, Alabama, New York, and Massachusetts have utilized volunteers to help their response to the coronavirus.
Reminder: When places like New York were in trouble, Democrat Mayor Bill de Blasio and Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo knew they had allies in President Trump and Jared Kushner who were able to “immediately” produce hundreds of thousands of N95 masks and be “extraordinarily helpful” in assisting New York respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
