Joe Biden is back, back to being wrong about almost everything. It’s clear he’s not the man for the moment to face down the growing threat from China.

Biden’s decades of “experience” have only made him an expert at being wrong (even Obama’s defense secretary thinks so).
Unfortunately for America, Biden has already brought back many of the same old failed policies that have allowed China to abuse U.S. businesses and workers for decades. He has rejoined the WHO, and has signaled that he will end President Trump’s policies that held China accountable. Biden even seemed unable to state a fact, that Xi Jinping is undemocratic, without qualifying, unprompted, that “I don’t mean it as a criticism.”

So if not as a “criticism,” in what way did Biden mean it? In a few short minutes, Biden abandoned American workers and signaled his deference to China on trade, all while letting Xi off the hook for being a brutal dictator.
The world has changed since Biden first went to Washington in the 1970s, but on China, Biden is stuck in the past. As Obama infamously quipped, “the 1980s, they're now calling to ask for their foreign policy back.” Turns out it was Biden who really needed the call.
