Time to squash the bogus narrative once and for all that President Trump has been silent or hiding in the wake of George Floyd’s tragic death.
Last Wednesday, President Trump announced the FBI and DOJ were investigating the death of George Floyd adding that “justice will be served” and that his heart “goes out to George’s family and friends.”
Thursday, President Trump received a briefing by AG William Barr and reiterated that the “shocking” and “tragic” death of George Floyd was being looked into by the FBI and DOJ.
Friday, as violence erupted, President Trump said, “Looters should not be allowed to drown out the voices of so many peaceful protesters” and said the Floyd family was “entitled to justice and the people of Minnesota are entitled to live in safety.”
This is a sentiment that has been echoed by the Floyd family: “My brother was about peace… just channel your anger elsewhere. Don’t tear up your town. All of this is not necessary because if his own family and blood is not doing it, then why are you?”
Also on Friday, President Trump announced that the National Guard had arrived on the scene in Minneapolis.
Saturday, while at the Kennedy Space Center, President Trump delivered a unifying speech saying, “I stand before you as a friend and ally to every American seeking justice and peace. And I stand before you in firm opposition to anyone exploiting this tragedy to loot, rob, attack, and menace.”
President Trump also reminded America that, “Healing not hatred, justice not chaos are the mission at hand.” And yesterday, President Trump continued his call for law and order.
Despite all of these actions, that still hasn’t stopped outlets like the Washington Post from creating a false narrative that President Trump has been silent or the media cooking up a bogus freak out about the lights at the White House being turned off late last night.
As CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported, “the lights at the White House go off every night around 11 p.m.”
Meanwhile, as looting raged across the country, Joe Biden remained silent, taking two days to condemn the riots. But that shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, Joe Biden has been slow to respond to the coronavirus pandemic as well and he continues to lie about it.
Case in point, earlier today, Biden tried to rewrite history and claim that he called for a lockdown due to the coronavirus back in January.
As Factcheck.org explained last week when Biden first fabricated this claim, “Biden falsely suggested that he called for implementing nationwide social distancing restrictions prior to March 8.”
Even Joe Biden’s campaign knows this is a lie, refusing to back up their candidate’s fallacious claim: Factcheck.org “asked the Biden campaign for an example of Biden calling for social distancing, or something resembling a nationwide lockdown, by early March — and it didn’t offer one. In fact, Biden was still holding campaign rallies with large groups of people at that point. He reportedly spoke to a crowd of about 1,000 at a Detroit high school on March 9.”
Bottom Line: President Trump has repeatedly voiced support for peaceful protesters and called for the violence to stop so that Americans can honor George Floyd’s memory.
