Do Lee & Horsford want to abolish ICE?

Keelie Broom - July 11, 2018

Today the Washington Post reported that a group of House Democrats are preparing a bill that aims to disband ICE within a year. This news comes on the same day that a Politico/Morning Consult poll was released showing that only 1 in 4 Americans actually support abolishing ICE.

Jacky Rosen’s recent cagey response on the question of whether to abolish ICE shows just what a conundrum the Nevada Democrats are in on this issue. This is a massively important question, and Nevada voters deserve a straightforward answer not just from Rosen, but from Susie Lee and Steven Horsford, too. These candidates can either pander to their base by embracing a wildly unpopular movement, or they can stand up for public safety by rejecting this dangerous proposal. Either way – Nevadans deserve to know where they stand.

Susie Lee and Steven Horsford already appear to support many out-of-touch issues this cycle, and supporting the wildly unpopular abolish ICE movement would likely fit right in with their agenda. If these Nevada Democrats think they can get through November without giving voters an answer on where they stand on this critical public safety issue, they’re both absolutely wrong.
