Do O’Halleran and Kirkpatrick want to abolish ICE?

Renae Eze - July 11, 2018

This morning, Politico released a new poll showing that only 1 in 4 Americans support abolishing ICE. However, Democrats seem more interested in using it as their rallying cry than representing voters. Today the Washington Post reported that a group of House Democrats are preparing a bill that will disband ICE within a year.

Running to represent voters in a border state that will be immediately impacted, this leaves Arizona Democrats like Tom O’Halleran and Ann Kirkpatrick with quite the dilemma. They can either pander to their progressive base and embrace this wildly unpopular position, or they can stand up for the safety of Arizonans and the rule of law by rejecting this dangerous proposal. Either way, O’Halleran and Kirkpatrick owe Arizonans an answer.

“Coastal Democrats using the abolish ICE movement as their rallying cry for the midterm elections are ignoring the major safety crisis it will create for border states like Arizona. Tom O’Halleran and Ann Kirkpatrick cannot remain silent on an issue that directly impacts this state. Arizonans deserve to know if O’Halleran and Kirkpatrick stand with a majority of Americans or with the radical wing of the Democratic Party.” – Renae Eze, RNC Spokesperson
