Good morning folks –
Wanted to make sure you saw that the RNC is calling liberal Hollywood actress Eva Longoria’s “Latino Victory Project” out for funding an organization that fancies themselves as bipartisan when in reality they are just a front group for the Democrat Party.
Below are excerpts from the RNC’s letter to the Latino Victory Project, an op-ed from RNC Hispanic Communications Director Izzy Santa and the story from Cosmopolitan.
- RNC LETTER TO LATINO VICTORY PROJECT: “As was said at the launch of the Latino Victory Project, ‘We want the political landscape to match the identities and reflect the reality of America’s people.’ Indeed, it is imperative that we recruit, train and build the next generation of leaders to represent all communities. A nonpartisan organization dedicated to giving Latinos a greater voice in politics by supporting Latino candidates is a worthy cause. However, I fear that’s not what the Latino Victory Project is. I’m not convinced you are being truthful about your intentions. To begin with, you were co-founded by the DNC Finance Chair and a former Obama campaign co-chair. Your president is a former staffer for liberal mega-donor George Soros.” (Izzy Santa, Latino Voice Or Democrat Front Group?, Letter, 05/13/14)
- RNC OP-ED ON LATINO VICTORY PROJECT: “Last week, Eva Longoria launched the Latino Victory Project, a ‘non-partisan’ political-action committee built to engage Latino voters and elevate their voice. At the launch, she said, ‘We want the political landscape to match the identities and reflect the reality of America’s people.’ Yes, it’s imperative that we recruit, train, and build the next generation of leaders to represent all communities. However, this isn’t a non-partisan effort. It’s a partisan Democratic organization masquerading (poorly) as a non-partisan group to help Latinos. So why doesn’t the Latino Victory Project pass the sniff test? For one, it was co-founded by Longoria, who was a co-chair of President Obama’s reelection campaign, and Henry Muñoz, the finance chair of the Democratic National Committee. And within 48 hours of the organization’s launch, both Longoria and Muñoz seemed to forget they had to appear non-partisan. First, when Muñoz went on MSNBC to discuss their efforts, he appeared with the DNC logo behind him.” (Izzy Santa, National Review, Eva Longoria’s Democratic Front Group, National Review, 05/16/14)
