History was made on May 17, 2018 when President Trump's nominee, Gina Haspel, was confirmed as the first woman CIA director in U.S. history.
Haspel is among the latest in a long line of women appointees to take a senior position in President Trump's administration.

While it’s important to acknowledge the historical nature of Haspel’s confirmation, we can’t forget her impressive qualifications for this role.
Haspel first joined the CIA in 1985 and has extensive overseas experience, including leadership roles at some the most dangerous American outposts. In Washington, she held several top senior positions, including deputy director of the National Clandestine Service and deputy director of the National Clandestine Service for Foreign Intelligence and Covert Action.
As CIA director, Haspel will continue her more than quarter-century-long service to this nation.
