Floridians haven’t forgotten 2010, Bill.

Taryn Fenske - February 8, 2018

Bill Nelson clearly either doesn’t remember or hopes Floridians won’t remember all the way back to 2010 when he agreed to expand offshore drilling off Florida’s coasts at the request of the Obama Administration.

When Obama told Bill to jump, liberal Democrat Bill asked how high… 125 miles to be exact. The Obama administration proposed drilling 125 miles from Florida’s coasts, and Bill thought that was enough - even though the distance from the nearest point of Florida’s shoreline that experienced oiling from Deepwater Horizon was 102.3 miles.

Bill recently put together a timeline, conveniently leaving out his 2010 stance, trying to trick Floridians into believing he has been Florida’s most dedicated opponent of offshore drilling. The timeline jumps from 2006 to 2017, and omits his major flip-flop, the politically convenient choice - to blindly follow Obama and dismiss the opinions of Floridians.

The Trump Administration and Governor Scott closed the deal and took Florida off the table for offshore drilling, while Bill’s office continued to lie about his stance in 2010 and cry wolf.

For more details, Sunshine State News did a great job outlining Bill’s Flip-Flop. No amount of press releases or Twitter rants will take back his decision to side with the Obama Administration instead of Floridians.

Who’s playing politics now, Bill? Floridians don’t forget.
