Here's what you won't hear from Biden

Tommy Pigott - March 11, 2021

If the first weeks of Joe Biden’s presidency have been any indication, tonight’s speech will be full of spin, half-truths, dodging responsibility, rewriting history, and downright gaslighting.

Here are the facts you won’t hear from Biden:

  1. His “rescue plan” is full of waste: The Democrats’ $1.9 trillion dollar wish list is full of pork, including $600 million for Pelosi’s home city of San Francisco after it spent money giving "free alcohol, marijuana and tobacco to homeless people."

  1. It’s not focused on coronavirus relief: All told, less than 10% of the Democrats’ wish list is for directly combating COVID-19 and just 1% is for vaccines.

  1. Democrats insisted on sending checks to prisoners: Nearly $2 billion dollars in stimulus checks will be sent to prisoners, including terrorists like the Boston Marathon Bomber and violent felons, after Democrats blocked an amendment to restrict the stimulus payments when ramming through their partisan legislation.

  1. Biden is slow-walking on reopening schools: The science says schools can safely reopen, but as part of their kowtowing to special interests, the Democrats’ wish list will only spend $6 billion dollars to reopen schools this fiscal year with NO REQUIREMENT that they reopen.

  1. Hundreds of billions of dollars won’t be spent for years: Hundreds of billions of the Democrats’ “relief” will not be spent for up to a decade from now. In no universe does that qualify as emergency relief.

  1. Biden is gaslighting on vaccines: Biden is claiming undeserved credit for coronavirus vaccine development and distribution. The facts: Operation Warp Speed developed a vaccine in record time and was meeting Biden’s distribution goal before he took office.  All the while, Biden spent months during the campaign sowing doubt about the efficacy of the vaccine.

  1. Biden bucked bipartisanship: Even Democrats have called out Biden for starting his presidency in a “strictly partisan direction.” So much for his campaign promise of bipartisanship.

  1. He is refusing to hold Gov. Andrew Cuomo accountable. During the campaign, Joe Biden called Cuomo the “gold standard” for COVID-19 leadership, but now that we know his administration covered up nursing home data so it would not be “used against” him in an investigation, Biden is silent.

  1. He won’t call on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to release nursing home data: During the campaign, Biden repeatedly applauded Whitmer’s approach to the coronavirus.  The policies Biden endorsed? Renewing devastating nursing home orders three times. Now Whitmer is refusing to release the data on nursing home deaths, and she bought the silence of her former health director with a $150,000 taxpayer-funded confidentiality agreement.

  1. He won’t insist hypocritical governors like Gov. Gavin Newsom open their economies. America can only recover economically if we allow our businesses to open, but instead of standing up to governors whose orders are hurting Americans, Biden continues to take a backseat. This is stunting the ability for a full economic recovery by keeping small businesses closed and workers out of a job.

  1. When he’ll finally schedule his first press conference: It’s Day 51 of Biden’s presidency and we are still waiting. His administration seems to count ignoring questions at an event as a Q&A, but it is not enough.

Why is Joe Biden hiding from the press? Why are his aides making policy from the briefing room he doesn’t agree with? Why is he gaslighting the American people?  If Biden is truly the one running the country, then the American people deserve the truth, not more spin from a carefully scripted televised address.
