Chairwoman McDaniel: What’s The Democrat Accomplishment Column Going To Look Like In 2018? They’ve Done Nothing
MIKE GALLAGHER: There have been some extraordinary policy achievements of the first year, and as the president now meets with congressional leaders to advance immigration reform, as they start diving into infrastructure, the wall, DACA, all these things—I mean, 2018 portends to—I mean, there could be a lot of additional winning because let’s not leave out the fact that there were some significant and substantive policy victories for this president, many in fact, in 2017 in the first year of his presidency.
CHAIRWOMAN MCDANIEL: Yeah, in one year, the Republicans have accomplished a lot. I wish we could say that Democrats came across the aisle and worked with us, but they didn’t. The president has extended his hand at every turn. He continues to do so and now we’re seeing this with this DACA situation. Democrats are unwilling to move on anything. The president is saying, listen, we want to deal with the situation in a compassionate way but we’re going to demand better border security, we’re going to demand a wall, we’re going to demand that we end chain migration and these visa lotteries that aren’t helpful for the security of our country and Democrats once again won’t come to the table. And what’s their accomplishment column going to look like going into 2018? Nothing, they’ve done nothing. Obstruct and resist are not accomplishments that are helping the American people.
