As you are writing general election stories, it’s interesting to note that an Indiana Democrat is supporting the president’s choice to lead the CIA – and his name’s not Joe Donnelly. Former Senator Evan Bayh is not only supporting Gina Haspel’s confirmation as CIA Director, he introduced her to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence of which he used to serve earlier today. When Senator Donnelly was asked if he’ll support Haspel’s confirmation, he remained non-committal. This is another example of Donnelly’s unwillingness to take a stance on anything before knowing the outcome of the actual vote.
In other words, when Donnelly is given the opportunity to do what’s best for Hoosiers, he’s afraid of his own shadow.
“If Indiana Democrat Evan Bayh can introduce Gina Haspel in front of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence today, why can’t Do-Nothing Democrat Joe Donnelly come out in support of Haspel’s confirmation? Every time there is an important vote in the Senate, Donnelly runs out the clock on his decision and waits for the vote to be pre-decided. Hoosiers need a Senator like Mike Braun who will be honest with them, not a do-nothing Senator who’s afraid of his own shadow.” –RNC Spokesperson Michael Joyce
