Yesterday, the Biden administration gave the press its first glimpses at border detention facilities, and the American people saw how large a crisis this truly is.
According to the Associated Press, the facility was “a severely overcrowded tent structure where more than 4,000 people, including children and families, were crammed into a space intended for 250 and the youngest were kept in a large play pen with mats on the floor for sleeping.”
CBS News described Biden’s border crisis as an “overcrowded purgatory” with 17 times the number of people “the facility was built to hold.”

All told, around 18,000 migrant children are in U.S. custody, and the highest number of migrant children are in Customs and Border Protection facilities since the “government started releasing data.”
More worrying still, this crisis is only going to get worse. Biden’s own DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas predicted: “We are on pace to encounter more individuals on the southwest border than we have in the last 20 years.”
Biden’s policies created this crisis, and his response has been a complete failure of leadership. Instead of traveling to the border to see the crisis he created, he is trying his best to deny it exists, ignore it, and distract from it by releasing a phony infrastructure plan. If Biden does not think what is happening at the border is a crisis, what is?
