President Trump leads, Biden runs to the left

Liz Harrington - June 16, 2020

President Trump signed an executive order Tuesday for police reform that will build trust in communities. While Democrats want to divide, defund, dismantle, and disengage.

After listening to leaders and advocates, the president is prioritizing law, order, fairness, and justice, in practical ways:

Certification and Credentialing: Police Departments will be incentivized to provide de-escalation training, build early warning systems to identify personnel issues, and reform use-of-force standards.

Information Sharing: Transparency leads to accountability. Police Departments will be required to report on cases of officers engaging in excessive force that have been fully adjudicated in order to receive federal grants.

Mental Health, Homelessness, and Addiction: The DOJ and HHS will promote co-responder programs that pair police and social workers, providing law enforcement additional resources for challenging encounters.

Legislation and Additional Grant Programs: The Trump administration will work with Congress to provide additional resources to recruit and retain the best officers, more programs to build up community relationships, and offer mental health services for officers.

President Trump’s focus on revitalizing communities did not start – and will not end – today. President Trump signed the First Step Act into law, is creating opportunity through second chance hiring and opportunity zones, and established the first police commission since Lyndon Johnson, which has been working to address law enforcement challenges since October. We won’t stop there. Real revitalization comes with equal opportunity for all, and that starts with school choice now.

Where is Joe Biden? His campaign, which likes to bail out rioters who set fire to minority communities, scheduled a virtual event on climate change Tuesday evening.

Biden doesn’t lift up communities, only the far left. He opposes choice in schools, while pushing more taxpayer-funded abortion on demand, “especially” for “women of color.” And while Biden remains silent on the culmination of decades of failed Democrat leadership playing out in lawlessness in Minneapolis and Seattle, he fundraises with “defund the police” activists.

Bottom line: President Trump leads, Joe Biden runs from his disastrous record to the far left. Biden is the failed system, and the wrong person to reform it.
