President Trump leads, Democrats play politics

Steve Guest - March 12, 2020

Last night in his Oval Office address, President Trump continued to push forward his aggressive plan to address coronavirus.

As part of his plan, President Trump made the bold decision to suspend all travel from Europe to the United States.  Health experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci have said that will make a difference in stemming the spread of coronavirus.

And President Trump doubled down on his commitment to protect America’s workers and businesses from the impacts of coronavirus.

  • The SBA has been instructed to use their authority to provide capital and liquidity to firms affected by the coronavirus.
  • The SBA will begin providing loans in affected states and territories to help small businesses.
  • And President Trump called on Congress to immediately pass payroll tax relief.

But at a time when partisanship is the last thing that is needed, Democrats and their left-wing media allies have decided now is the time to score political points with unhinged rhetoric.

Joe Biden’s campaign’s response: President Trump “decided” to let coronavirus “get out of hand.”

Since January, the Biden campaign has used coronavirus as an opportunity to play politics. While President Trump was announcing travel restrictions to China, Biden was falling back on talking points and criticized President Trump for “xenophobia.” Yet, public health experts have said those initial travel restrictions “likely helped to slow the spread of the virus.”

NOTE: Biden’s response to coronavirus is yet another reminder why he has no place in the White House. Just like Bob Gates said about Biden being “wrong” on foreign policy, coronavirus is yet another reminder that Biden offers consistently wrong policy prescriptions.

And media reporting like this doesn’t help:

Bottom Line: The Democrats’ kneejerk response to politicize coronavirus is a terrible precedent to set. The safety, security, and health of the American people remains President Trump’s top priority.
