Profiles in Courage

RNC Communications - July 31, 2013

After spending months waging a fake “War on Women” to mislead voters, it appears the Democrats have much less “courage” when it comes to calling out their own. The White House is refusing to weigh in on Filner, Weiner, Spitzer and the Democrats’ muted reaction to their own the War on Women. Meanwhile, the DNC won’t call on Weiner to exit the race… The clips keep piling up on the Dems.

  • Debbie Wasserman Schultz not calling for Anthony Weiner to exit race
Politico: Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said Wednesday she won’t call for Anthony Weiner to drop out of the New York mayoral race. This is a different tone from what Wasserman Schultz struck Friday when she demanded that San Diego Mayor Bob Filner to resign due to the damning sexual harassment allegations and lawsuits surrounding him. The difference Wasserman Schultz sees is that Weiner is not in office anymore.

CNN: Democratic strategist: Female representatives say Filner had a 'creepy' reputation

San Diego Mayor Bob Filner is not only not stepping down, he is doubling down. Filner is asking the city to pick up the tab for his growing legal fees after seven women came forward accusing him of sexual harassment. The city is filing a cross complaint, asking that he pay them for their legal fees. "I had dinner this weekend with female members and former members who said this guy has been this way all along, that everybody thought he was a little creepy," said Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen. The female lawmakers had not heard of official sexual harassment by Filner, but he was "just a guy they never trusted," said Rosen.

Talking Points Memo: Top Weiner Aide Trashes Intern Who Wrote Campaign Tell-All

Tuesday was an angry day in Weinerland. The campaign staff awoke to see their former intern, Olivia Nuzzi, on the front cover of the Daily News. Inside the paper was an article bylined by Nuzzi in which she told a rather unflattering tale of her experience working on Anthony Weiner’s mayoral bid. Now, Team Weiner is firing back. TPM called Weiner’s communications director Barbara Morgan to discuss an unrelated story Tuesday and she went off on a curse-filled rant about Nuzzi…

San Diego 10 News: 8th woman claims she was sexually harassed by Bob Filner

The eighth alleged victim of sexual harassment by Bob Filner said Tuesday the San Diego mayor twirled her wedding band and kissed her cheek following a meeting two years ago. Lisa Curtin, an administrator with San Diego City College, told 10News' media partner KPBS the encounter took place after the two discussed the use of property near the former Naval Training Center in Point Loma. According to Curtin, Filner pulled her aside and asked her if the ring was real, and she said it had been for 25 years.
