WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement today celebrating Black History Month:
“Our nation’s story cannot be told without recognizing the countless contributions African-Americans have made to move our country forward and fulfill its tremendous potential. The history of the Republican Party is also steeped in this narrative. Since its founding in 1854 by a group of abolitionists in my home state of Wisconsin, the Party of Lincoln has been at the forefront of the fight for individuals' rights and equal opportunity. I encourage all Americans to take the time, not only during this month, but throughout the year, to reflect upon the countless sacrifices and breakthroughs African-Americans have made throughout our history to honor the promise our nation has made to all its citizens.”
