As we head into this Fourth of July weekend, I am looking forward to the barbeques, parades, fireworks, and most importantly, celebrating our country and what it means to be an American. I am also proud to announce this weekend the RNC will be hosting its first National Day of Action for the 2016 presidential cycle.
This means our staff and volunteers will be attending events ranging from Naturalization Ceremonies in the West, NASCAR races in Florida, Airshows in the Northeast, Fireworks displays in the Midwest and more.
We already have more than 500 volunteers committed to attending events and helping register voters and recruit more volunteers. I’m particularly excited about the fact that two-thirds them of these volunteers are participating as first time volunteers. This shows me people across the country are concerned for our future, and they are ready to take action and help us in our important mission to put a Republican back in the White House.
Defeating the Hillary Clinton machine will be no easy task in 2016, which is why we are doing everything we can as a party to prepare and help share our message with voters. Here at the RNC, we are in the business of person-to-person politics: connecting, listening and learning about the concerns of real Americans in their communities and building lasting relationships with voters. We have had staff holding one-on-one meetings to train and recruit Neighborhood Teams since April, and our House Meetings that kicked off in June have been a huge success. We’re getting more Republicans involved, working with activists and allies, and bringing our message to communities across the country.
We’ve come a long way since the last presidential cycle. We’ve learned from our mistakes and our volunteer program is the strongest it’s ever been. I feel confident about the work we are doing as we near the presidential election, but we cannot do this without your help.
