WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chairman Sharon Day released the following statement commemorating Lunar New Year:
“Today marks the Lunar New Year, and to all those in the Asian American community marking the occasion, I wish a happy celebration and a joyful year ahead,” said Chairman Priebus.
“We join with families across the country in welcoming the Year of the Horse. America is blessed by our diverse customs and traditions that generations of immigrants have brought to this country, and during the Lunar New Year, we’re particularly mindful of the contributions of our Asian American neighbors and friends.”
“Today and in the coming days, we honor the spirit of the Lunar New Year with our Asian American friends,” said RNC Co-Chairman Sharon Day. “Lunar New Year is a time of looking expectantly to the approaching spring and welcoming the coming year with renewed hope. I wish all who are celebrating a time surrounded by friends and loved ones—and a New Year of peace and happiness.”
