RNC Message on Diwali

- November 3, 2013

WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chair Sharon Day released the following message on the first day of Diwali:

“As our Hindu, Jain, and Sikh friends gather to celebrate Diwali, we wish them a happy festival of lights,” said Chairman Priebus. “We hope that they’ll be surrounded by family and loved ones as they enjoy the songs, the dancing and the food of the holiday.

“Diwali and the lighting of the Diya celebrate the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. We join in embracing all that this holiday represents: education, compassion, and the resilience of the human spirit.”

“We wish a very happy Diwali to all who are celebrating across the nation,” said Co-Chair Day. “As they mark this time of reflection and renewal, we wish them prosperity in the year ahead. Saal Mubarak!”
