WASHINGTON -- Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chairman Sharon Day released the following statement on the beginning of Yom Kippur:
“Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is a unique time in the Jewish calendar,” said Chairman Priebus. "Although it is a day set aside for Jewish people around the world to repent for their sins and reflect on their past actions, it is also undeniably an optimistic day. We are all imperfect, but as God’s children we also have a special ability to make the choices that will lead us to more virtuous futures. During this time of penitence we join with our Jewish friends in recommitting ourselves to that goal.”
“We wish our friends in the Jewish community an easy fast,” said Co-Chair Day. “As they reflect on their relationship with God and with each other, we share in their hopes for a bright year ahead. Each day we are blessed with is another opportunity to make our world a better place."
