WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and RNC Co-Chairman Sharon Day released the following statement marking Yom Kippur:
“As our Jewish friends pause to commemorate the holiest day of the Jewish year, we wish them an easy fast and a blessed Yom Kippur,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
“Today at sundown marks the beginning of Yom Kippur, a day of reflection and renewal for Jewish families across our nation and around the world. This is also a day to be thankful for our blessings and remember the common values shared by all Americans—compassion, charity, and justice. On this day of atonement, let us all commit ourselves to helping our neighbors, our communities, and those in need.”
“We’re thankful for the ancient Jewish traditions that have enriched our country,” said Co-Chairman Sharon Day. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those marking this day in Israel, our troops observing abroad, and Jews around the world—G'mar Hatimah Tovah!”
