WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chairman Sharon Day released the following message commemorating Presidents Day:
“Originally a holiday to honor our first president’s birthday, Presidents Day is an opportunity to remember the accomplishments and legacies of all our Commanders-in-Chief,” said Chairman Priebus.
“We remember Washington and his humble leadership, his respect for constitutionally limited government, and the example he set for his successors. We remember our first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, and his steadfast resolve to save the union. And this month, we also marked the birthday of Ronald Reagan, our 40th president, whose principled leadership strengthened our economy and expanded freedom at home and abroad.”
“America has been blessed by many great presidents,” said Co-Chairman Sharon Day. “Today we honor them and pay tribute to them, and we pray that our current and future leaders will be guided by their examples.”
