WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chair Sharon Day released the following statement on the anniversary of September 11th:
“Fourteen years ago our nation was attacked by those who sought to destroy our core values of freedom and liberty,” said RNC Chairman Priebus. “We emerged from that day irrevocably changed, but we have not allowed the evil committed on September 11th to define America’s future. Patriots across the country jumped into action moments after the attack, from the courageous first responders in New York and at the Pentagon, to the brave men and women fighting those responsible overseas. That is the spirit of America - a spirit that will not be broken.
“Extremism still infects our world, causing unspeakable violence and ending innocent lives. Just because this violence is largely removed from our shores, does not mean that we can waver in the fight against al-Qaeda, ISIS, and all other extremist groups who wish to do our country harm. It is in honor of those we lost on 9/11, as well as those members of the armed forces who have given their lives in search of justice, that we rededicate ourselves to defending our nation and the principles for which it stands.”
“We will never forget the lives that were senselessly taken on September 11th and during its aftermath,” said Co-Chair Day. “May God be with the families of those patriots on this day as we honor their memory, and may He continue to bless the United States of America.”
