RNC Statement on April Jobs Report

RNC Communications - May 2, 2014

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the April jobs report:

“We’re happy that more Americans were able to find work last month, but more and more people are dropping out of our workforce—giving up on finding a job. These are men and women who desperately need work and want work, but with the same labor force lows from the Carter economy, there are simply no jobs for them.

“It’s an insult to Americans who are ready and willing to work that Democrats continue to block job-creating projects like the Keystone pipeline. It’s unacceptable that they’re taking their marching orders from left-wing activists like Tom Steyer and not doing everything possible to create more jobs. While the Republican-led House of Representatives has passed dozens of jobs bills, the do-nothing Democrat Senate just ignores them. It’s shameful that Democrats on the ballot this year prioritize placating their most extreme supporters over creating jobs for Americans.

“In addition to the unemployed, there are millions more who can’t find full-time jobs or who have given up on finding a job because the situation seems hopeless to them. ObamaCare is to blame for slashing workers’ hours, and its intrusive regulations, combined with Democrats’ anti-growth agenda, make it hard for businesses to hire new workers—no matter how much they want to.”
