RNC Statement on the July Jobs Report

- August 2, 2013

WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the July jobs report:

“Today’s jobs report brings good news for some, but these small gains continue to leave too many families and communities disappointed,” said Chairman Priebus. “This is not what a healthy economy looks like; this is an economy poisoned by the reckless policies of an overbearing Washington bureaucracy.

“Obamacare is making it more difficult for people to find full-time work. It’s creating a part-time economy. The news is filled with stories of small businesses and colleges cutting back workers’ hours or putting a freeze on hiring. Still, Obama would rather ‘pivot’ away from reality than admit his signature legislation is stifling job growth.

“President Obama spent July giving speeches on the economy, recycling the same old rhetoric, and attacking Republicans. But today’s numbers show that speeches don’t hire. Instead of mocking real job-creating proposals, like the Keystone Pipeline, President Obama should be working with Republicans to unleash the country’s economic potential.”
