WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chair Sharon Day released the following statement in response to the presidential election in Taiwan:
"On behalf of the Republican National Committee, I congratulate Taiwan on the successful election of Dr. Tsai Ing-wen to the presidency," said Chairman Priebus. "We would also like to highlight President Ma Ying-jeou's leadership as a U.S. ally and advocate for democracy in Taiwan and Asia."
"Our shared belief in fair elections, personal liberty, and free enterprise is critical as we continue to strengthen our relationship with Taiwan in the years ahead," said Co-Chair Sharon Day. "We continue to support Taiwan as they promote democracy around the world."
