It would be impossible to capture in one email the depth of the media’s failure over the past 2 years in covering the phony Russia collusion story.
Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi writes, “Russiagate may have destroyed [the media’s reputation.]”
There needs to be a reckoning for the deceitful reporting starting with the publication of the false DNC-funded dossier through the two years of nonstop coverage that followed.
Below is a quick recap of a few of the top instances where the media spread blatantly false information.
Trump Colluded:
Countless media outlets recklessly speculated that Mueller would find evidence that President Trump colluded – a lie that finally came crashing down.

The Dossier Is Corroborated:
CNN and many others continually tried to argue that most of the DNC-funded dossier was “corroborated” and therefore proof that Trump-Russia collusion existed. Here’s one report from 2017 in which CNN writes that U.S. investigators have corroborated part of the dossier giving investigators “greater confidence” in the document.
Trump Advisers In” Constant Touch” With Russians During Campaign:
In February 2017, CNN reported that “High-level advisers close to then-presidential nominee Donald Trump were in constant communication during the campaign with Russians known to US intelligence.”
In reality, Mueller’s investigation found, “the Special Counsel did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in these efforts, despite multiple offers from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign.”
Evidence Trump Directed Advisers To Lie:
BuzzFeed claimed Mueller possessed evidence that the president personally directed a Michael Cohen to lie to Congress – a claim that Mueller’s team then had to publically say was incorrect.

Trump Team Had Advance Look At WikiLeaks Docs:
In December 2017, CNN ran with a story claiming President Trump and his son were given an advance look at hacked WikiLeaks documents. A story which NBC’s Ken Dilanian said he independently confirmed from two sources. The story completely collapsed hours later when it was reported that the supposed email was sent after the public release of the hacked materials.
Trump Directed Aide To Make Contact With Russians During Campaign:
ABC News was forced to retract and apologize for an errant report from Brian Ross that President Trump directed Michael Flynn to make contact with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign. The stock market tanked hundreds of points before a retraction was made.
This video below is a good encapsulation of the ridiculous fever-pitched reporting and speculation from TV talking heads over the past two years.
A short two-minute video for those of you in the media pitifully insisting that no media reckoning is needed and journalists performed beautifully, soberly and responsibly throughout this whole saga: pic.twitter.com/PF5s2kTcYA
