The Biden administration claims to be listening to the science, but when it comes to reopening schools, it is doing the exact opposite.
A scientific consensus is forming that the best place for children is in schools, and, according to the CDC, schools actually have lower coronavirus transmission rates than the community at large.
Despite this evidence, Biden’s chief of staff Ron Klain was unwilling to buck Democrat Party special interests and call on schools to reopen. He even balked at calling on the Chicago Teachers Union to end their illegal strike, although the school district has invested in the very precautions the CDC recommends to safely reopen.
And after seemingly backing indefinite school closures, Klain tied school openings to Biden’s $1.9 trillion spending proposal. This proposal is full of far-left wish list items, like a $15 nationwide wage mandate that the CBO says could force up to 3.7 million people out of work.
Education should not be treated as a political football and the future of America’s children should not be held hostage. The science says that schools should reopen, and the Biden administration should listen.
