Steve Cohen won’t apologize for violent remarks

Garren Shipley - August 10, 2018

Late yesterday the Huffington Post reported some violent remarks by Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Memphis. From the story:

“The big orange president .... He’s going to come down here and he is going to endorse Marsha Blackburn, because Marsha Blackburn, if he says, ‘Jump off the Harahan Bridge,’ she’ll jump off the Harahan Bridge,” he said in the audio obtained by HuffPost, referring to a bridge over the Mississippi River connecting Arkansas and Tennessee. “I wish he’d say that.”

Democrat nominee for Senate Phil Bredesen was present at the event — a prayer breakfast — and didn’t say the first word about Cohen’s vile remarks. This is the second time a Tennessee Democrat has said something truly vile about Republicans and refused to criticize it. Earlier this month Bredesen refused to condemn remarks by state party spokesman Mark Brown who called the 61 percent of voters who supported President Trump in Tennessee “idiots."

"Marsha Blackburn is a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, and a dedicated public servant. We can disagree on issues of policy and politics, without wishing harm on each other. These violent remarks by Steve Cohen, and his lack of apology, are utterly unacceptable and should be condemned in the strongest terms.” — Garren Shipley, RNC spokesman
