Joe Biden’s cabinet picks reflect his disastrous 50-year record.
As President Obama’s Defense Secretary Bob Gates said of Joe Biden, “I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades,” and as those who are having hearings today demonstrate, Biden has no desire to change that trend.
A few highlights:
- Secretary of State nominee Antony Blinken defended the failed “red line” policy in Syria, and admitted Iran could use cash from the Iran Deal to fund terrorism.
- Treasury Secretary nominee Janet Yellen backs “open trade” with China and in 2018 said, “I do not see unfair trade practices in China, or anywhere in the world, as what is responsible for the U.S. trade deficit.”
- Defense Secretary nominee General Lloyd Austin was commander of U.S. Central Command when ISIS rapidly expanded in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
- DNI nominee Avril Haines was deputy director at the CIA when CIA technicians hacked into Senate Intelligence Committee computers.
- An IG report found that DHS Secretary nominee Alejandro Mayorkas fostered an atmosphere of “favoritism and special access” with the EB-5 program as DHS deputy secretary under Obama.

Bottom line: These cabinet nominees are a who’s who from the failed policies of the Obama years – and Biden seems determined to repeat the same mistakes. And you know what they say about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results…sounds insane.
