we do not not not want to abolish ice

Michael Ahrens - July 13, 2018

After Democrats recently began calling for U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to be abolished – something only 25% of voters support – a group of House Democrats introduced legislation to do just that.

Democrats Calling
To Abolish ICE

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA)

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)

Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX)
Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR)

Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI)

Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY)

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA)

Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ)

Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY)

Rep. Mike Capuano (D-MA)

Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA)

Rep. Nanette Barragan (D-CA)

Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY)

Rep. José Serrano (D-NY)

Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA)

Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-CA)

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA)

NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio (D-NY)

But when House leadership agreed to hold a vote, the bill’s authors abruptly announced that they would vote NO on the exact piece of legislation that they themselves wrote.

Why it matters: Beyond looking totally ridiculous, the episode is emblematic of a party that’s being driven to the left by radical base and the elected officials who are trying to appeal to it.

Forgetting someone? One Democrat that’s not included on the list above is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the socialist who upset the #4 House Democrat last month after running on a platform that included abolishing ICE.  Expect more of these embarrassing displays of party disunity and liberal extremism as lunatics like her continue their takeover of the Democratic Party.
