Yesterday, we wondered if Donnelly’s meeting with Judge Kavanaugh would amount to anything more than political grandstanding on Donnelly’s part since 2018 is his re-election year. Today, we received confirmation that it was grandstanding at its absolute worst. Even though reporters weren’t allowed to bring cameras into the meeting, Senator Donnelly’s official office released the following video:
Given Donnelly’s proven track record of skirting campaign finance laws, this new footage with no sound seems to be past the point of unethical.
“Shame on Senator Donnelly for using his meeting with Judge Kavanaugh to pander for votes. Judge Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation process should amount to more than campaigning for reelection, and should this footage be used for any type of campaign ad it will only show Hoosiers once again that Joe Donnelly believes he is above morality and ethics when it comes to campaign laws.” –RNC Spokesperson Michael Joyce
