100 Days from Midterms, Democrats Losing Ground with Asian American Voters
Nainoa - Johsens

100 days from November’s midterm elections, AAPI voters are leaving the Democrat Party as they blame historic inflation, rising crime, and discrimination in education on Joe Biden's radical agenda.

Unlike Democrats, the GOP is engaging with the AAPI community months before the midterms and running a strong slate of AAPI Republican candidates. Asian Americans leaving the Democrat Party will be a key reason the GOP will take back the House and Senate.

"Joe Biden's radical agenda has made everything worse for the AAPI community. Polling shows that in 100 days, Asian Americans will leave Democrats behind at the ballot box." - RNC Spokesperson and Director of APA Media Nainoa Johsens

100 DAYS OUT BACKGROUND:

AAPI POLLING SHOWS BIDEN, DEMOCRATS LOSING SUPPORT FAST:

  • A recent poll shows Joe Biden is underwater with Asian American voters by 11 points as APA voters continue to reject Joe Biden’s failed agenda.
  • In April 2021, Biden had a 72 percent approval rating among Asian Americans, meaning he has seen a nearly 30-point loss of support in the AAPI community.
  • Democrats have seen a steep loss of support among AAPI voters in key Senate races in Wisconsin, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.
  • CNN recently highlighted how Joe Biden and the Democrats have seen a double-digit drop in support among Asian American voters.

ASIAN AMERICANS BACK THE GOP TO HANDLE INFLATION AND THE ECONOMY:

  • On the economy and inflation, the most prominent issues for voters this year, Republicans lead Democrats among AAPI voters.
  • Among AAPI voters over 50, Republicans lead by 7 points on who they trust to handle the economy and a whopping 13 points on which party is best able to handle inflation.
  • 81% of Asian-owned small businesses in Joe Biden’s America are struggling to survive

AAPI VOTERS REJECT SOFT-ON-CRIME DEMOCRATS:

  • Asian Americans have rejected and recalled Democrats for letting violent criminals off the hook and allowing anti-Asian crimes to continue unchecked.
  • Democrat district attorneys have consistently allowed anti-Asian criminals to skip bail and have not prosecuted violent offenders.
  • Anti-Asian crime is rampant in Democrat-run cities because of soft-on-crime policies that release violent criminals back onto the street.

DEMOCRATS SUPPORT ANTI-ASIAN DISCRIMINATION IN EDUCATION:

  • At a recent White House press briefing, Biden’s Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that opposing anti-Asian American discrimination in college admissions is “extreme.”
  • The Biden administration asked that the Supreme Court decide in favor of discriminatory policies at Harvard University that try to achieve “racial balancing” by lowering Asian applicants' chances of gaining admission.

GOP AAPI ENGAGEMENT AT HISTORIC LEVELS:

  • For the 2022 cycle, the RNC has invested millions to continue strategic minority engagement efforts through RNC APA Community Centers across the country.
  • These centers serve to engage the APA community, hear their concerns and aspirations, and help build a stronger country together.
  • The first APA community center was opened in Westminster, CA, with additional opened in Berkeley Lake, GA, Coppell, TX, and Las Vegas, NV, with more to come.
