In case you missed it, Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity joined 14 other state treasurers in pressuring the Biden Administration to halt their reckless attacks on the fossil fuel industry, a vital component of Pennsylvania’s economy. Garrity co-signed a letter to climate envoy John Kerry urging him to stop encouraging banks to cut off investments in oil, gas, and coal companies. This comes after reports that Kerry has been manipulating his Wall Street relationships to fulfill Biden’s radical climate change agenda.
In the letter, Garrity joined Riley Moore and 13 other state treasurers to drive home the point that "it is simply antithetical to our nation’s position as a democracy and a capitalist economy for the Executive Branch to bully corporations into curtailing legal activities." The group emphasized that they "refuse to allow the federal government to pick our critical industries as losers, based purely on President Biden’s own radical political preferences and ideologies."
Garrity and her counterparts went on to underscore that billions of dollars in funding hang in the balance.
Bottom line: Pennsylvania’s fossil fuel industry—a cornerstone of the Commonwealth’s economy—is under siege by the Biden Administration’s radical climate change agenda and John Kerry’s Wall Street ties. As Treasurer Garrity made clear, the war on coal, oil, and natural gas will not be tolerated in Pennsylvania or elsewhere.
