Democrat Katie Hobbs just completely flip-flopped on her support for ending Title 42. Hobbs’ reversal followed three weeks of Republican attacks, including TV ads, highlighting Hobbs’ open borders stance.
Katie Hobbs reversed her support for ending Title 42 yesterday in a statement to CNN. Just weeks prior, Hobbs endorsed Joe Biden’s move to lift Title 42.

Welch: “Just real clear English then, do you support Biden’s decision, proposal to lift this by the end of May?”
Katie Hobbs: “Title 42 isn’t working.”
Welch: “OK.”
April 24, 2022 — Hobbs Statement To CNN
“Katie Hobbs, the Arizona secretary of state and front-runner for the Democratic nomination for governor, urged Biden to reverse his ‘rash decision’ and said lifting Title 42 ‘without a clear plan to secure our border would be a disaster.’”
This is the stuff voters hate most. After getting called out for backing open borders, Katie Hobbs thinks she can re-write her support for ending Title 42. Too bad, she’s on camera saying it. From now until November, voters will hear exactly what Hobbs said.
“The déjà vu is real. Open borders candidate Katie Hobbs is replaying Democrats’ failed 2018 campaign for governor. This is Katie Hobbs’ ‘no wall’ moment and no amount of walking it back will save her doomed campaign.” – RNC Spokesperson Ben Petersen
Background
Katie Hobbs’ support for open borders is in no way limited to ending Title 42. Hobbs also supports defunding the Border Strike Force and refuses to rule out removing the National Guard from Arizona’s border.
Doing a complete 180 is nothing new for Katie Hobbs. She’s already done it twice during her troubled campaign for governor. First, Hobbs doubled down on defending herself amid her $2.75 million racial discrimination scandal — before she was forced to release a hostage video-style apology. Then, just last week, Hobbs pivoted and bizarrely trashed what was her signature campaign issue.
Title 42 allows CBP agents to efficiently process and expel illegal immigrants. Homeland Security and law enforcement officials warn ending Title 42 will trigger a “mass migration event” bringing up to 18,000 illegal immigrant apprehensions a day. Officials say it would cause devastating public safety and humanitarian consequences.
