Republican Allan Fung is consistently leading the polls in the race for Rhode Island’s 2nd congressional district, a sign of growing support for the GOP in traditionally blue states. A Boston Globe poll has Mayor Fung up 8 points over his opponent, shifting RI-02 from Toss Up to Lean GOP in recent ratings.
Mayor Fung is the former mayor of Cranston and the first mayor of Chinese ancestry in Rhode Island. He joined America’s Newsroom to discuss how he has pulled ahead by campaigning on the issues that matter most to Rhode Islanders, saying "I’m talking about the issues that are on people’s minds … It’s the cost-of-living crisis, particularly the energy crisis that we’re facing up in New England, all across the country, because of these failed Democrat policies by President Biden.”
Bottom line: As Fox’s Bill Hemmer said, RI-02 flipping red would be the “canary in the coal mine” for Democrats on Election Night.
