Cognetti Denies Working Moms Maternity Leave

Paige Cognetti is under fire after a new report revealed that the Scranton mayor stripped city employees of paid maternity leave.

City workers were previously guaranteed 12 weeks of paid maternity leave, but under Cognetti’s new 2026 labor agreement, new mothers are left without paid maternity leave entirely.

This isn’t the first time Cognetti has shown little regard for Scranton workers. She faced backlash from labor leaders after gutting fair wage and training standards for a significant portion of municipal work.

It also comes on the heels of other scandals plaguing Cognetti, including:

• Funneling taxpayer dollars to Fidelity Bank in exchange for campaign contributions  
• Making light of TSA workers’ suffering during the Democrats’ DHS shutdown

• Abusing her authority during COVID-19
• Being a political opportunist who is already living like a D.C. insider
