Even Socialists Support Voter ID. Why Are Democrat Politicians Still Fighting It?

Commentary

If even 66% of self-described socialists support voter ID, why are Democrats still fighting it?

A new Fox News poll found that voter ID is overwhelmingly popular with the American people. 83% of voters support requiring photo ID to register to vote, including 72% of Democrats and even 66% of socialists.

While Democrat politicians continue to oppose commonsense election safeguards, voters across the political spectrum support them.

Key findings from the poll:

  • 83% support requiring photo ID to register to vote.
  • 77% support requiring photo ID to cast a ballot.
  • 72% of Democrats support requiring photo ID to register to vote.
  • 62% of Democrats support requiring photo ID to vote.
  • 66% of self-described socialists support voter ID.
  • Support for voter ID has remained consistently high in polling for more than a decade.

"Even socialists think voter ID is common sense, yet Democrat politicians keep blocking the SAVE America Act and attacking election safeguards because they know they can't win fair and square. American elections are for American citizens only — and the RNC is fighting to keep it that way." — Ally Triolo, RNC Election Integrity Communications Director
