Mamdani Poses with Terrorist Sympathizer. Will New York Democrats Speak Up?

Commentary

New Yorkers know better than most the devastation caused by jihadist terrorism. That’s why it’s unimaginable that a man who wants to be New York City’s next mayor would proudly pose with a known terrorist sympathizer.

Will Tom Suozzi, Laura Gillen, and Josh Riley speak up?

Zohran Mamdani posted a photo laughing arm-in-arm with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, an unindicted co-conspirator of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing that killed six New Yorkers and who has urged “jihad” upon New York City. Mamdani praised Wahhaj as “one of the nation’s foremost Muslim leaders and a pillar of the Bed-Stuy community.”

Prosecutors exposed Wahhaj’s connections to Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, the convicted mastermind of the World Trade Center plot. Wahhaj also raised money for the defense of El Sayyid Nosair, who assassinated Rabbi Meir Kahane in 1990 and was convicted in connection with the 1993 bombing.

In 2011, Wahhaj urged donations for the legal defense of “Lady Al Qaeda,” a Pakistani neuroscientist who tried to kill U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

“The silence among New York Democrats is deafening. The only acceptable reaction to Mamdani’s attempt to normalize this extremist terrorist sympathizer should be outrage.”  – RNC Spokeswoman Kristen Cianci
