Meet Some of the Criminals Roy Cooper Released into Wayne County

Meet some of the criminals Roy Cooper released into Wayne County: 

  • Robert V. Jones - was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder
  • Monterio D. Newsome - was serving time for second-degree murder 
  • Richard Swinson - was serving time for second-degree murder and had prior assault offenses 
  • Samuel S. Leach - was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder  
  • Shadell I. Barksdale - a habitual felon who went on to murder someone less than two years later 
  • Cedric Small - had prior convictions for first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and attempted armed robbery

Demarko Grandy - had prior convictions for attempted first-degree murder and indecent liberties with a child
