Democrat Fails, Hypocrisy, and Lies

Mike Franken: "water is actually dry"

Commentary

Mike Franken was caught lying, again, this time about the Democrats’ embrace of the defund-the-police movement. “There's no Democrat that mentions defunding the police,” Franken claimed at a recent campaign stop.

No Democrat has even mentioned defunding the police? Prominent Democrats from Nancy Pelosi to Kamala Harris to AOC to Andrew Cuomo have all openly supported defunding the police. That includes Joe Biden himself. Numerous Democrat-run cities such as Burlington, Vermont and Chicago have even gone ahead and defunded their police, and crime has predictably skyrocketed in almost every case.

The funny part about all of this is that Franken himself has supported defunding the police – just without saying the phrase, “defund the police.” “Do not say we're going to defund the police. Do not say that. That hurts us as a party. Take that out of your lexicon, please,” Franken said back in January. “There are better ways to say that we're going to do a reapportionment and a different look at policing in America.”

No problem with defunding law enforcement and subjecting Iowans to lawlessness and crime as long as Democrats come up with “better ways” to sell it. “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet,” as Shakespeare would say – except this rose isn’t so sweet.

“It’s remarkable how the best candidate Iowa Democrats could field against Chuck Grassley is more concerned about playing word-games to disguise his and the Democrats’ radical views than seriously addressing the litany of problems Iowans face as a result of Joe Biden’s reckless policies. Fortunately for Iowans, Chuck Grassley doesn’t mince words when it comes to backing the Blue.” – RNC Spokesman Kush Desai
