Mandela Barnes has been extremely candid when it comes to defunding police departments. After all, the guy believes “reducing the prison population is now sexy.”
This is unsurprising considering Barnes wants HALF of the state’s inmate population to be released — a notion he claims will “make our communities safer.”
While crime runs rampant across Wisconsin, Barnes’ grand idea of releasing half of the state’s inmate population surely sounds pretty sexy, especially for the repeat offenders looking at an early release.
While releasing criminals from prison isn’t “sexy” to Wisconsinites, it’s the same radical sentiment Barnes has echoed for years .
Reminder: 68 percent of Wisconsin inmates are violent criminals, but that didn’t stop Barnes from preceding over a roughly 15 percent drop in the state’s prison population and a 16 percent increase in early releases during his term as lieutenant governor.
Of course, we already know Barnes is a far-left radical who won’t keep Wisconsinites safe. Barnes has repeatedly called for defunding “over-bloated” police departments, “ a reduction of spending” on state corrections budgets, and “wish[es] we could accelerate” releasing violent criminals from prison.
If Barnes believes criminals prancing around the streets is sexy, imagine what other policies he’d consider sexy…
Bottom Line: Mandela Barnes has no place in the United States Senate. If Barnes is curious what a sexy idea really is, it’s re-electing Senator Ron Johnson: a proven leader, who supports keeping Wisconsin communities safe and police departments funded.
