Chairwoman McDaniel: Republican Governors Are Bringing Jobs Back
RNC CHAIRWOMAN RONNA MCDANIEL: I'm in Michigan this weekend. I was talking to many, many people as we are having graduation festivities and so many people who owned small businesses or restaurants were saying we can't hire anybody. You go down the street, you see all types of businesses closing early because they have a shortage of workers, and so we are competing against our own government. And this will have a long-term effect as these businesses close and these unemployment benefits expire and then these people have no jobs to go back to. The government is actually hurting the economy.
GALLAGHER: Historically you look back, and people tend to like free money so it's kind of hard to counter this I would think.
CHAIRWOMAN MCDANIEL: Well you look at Republican governors across the country and they are at the top of bringing back jobs and wage earnings. And that's what has happened in this pandemic. Republican governors like Ron DeSantis and Kristi Noem and Abbott have said we are not going to shut down our economies, we are going to follow the science, we are going to protect our risk population, but we are going to keep our economies going and the results speak for themselves.
