"At the end of the day," [Chairman Gruters] said, "this GOP convention's going to lead the way in terms of helping us defy history."
Gruters claimed there's a lot of attention focused on the event since President Donald Trump is the headliner.
"It's going to be a Trumpapalooza," he said. "It's going to be a spectacular, star-studded event. Obviously headlined by the best showman that's ever lived in Donald J. Trump."
In keeping with his position in the party, Gruters added a bit of a sales pitch.
"You can get your tickets at home," he prompted. "Go to GOPConvention.com. For the first time ever, we're actually going to be allowing members of the public to have access to this event."

Gruters posted to X on Monday about what he sees as a stark contrast between Republican and Democrat candidates in the midterms.
"Democrats are far-left extremists," he wrote, "who want to change what makes America great. Republicans are commonsense and putting America First. The choice is clear."
