“I thought before [Moody]
was going to win by 10 or 15 points. Now, it’s probably more like 15 or 20
points,” Gruters said in an interview with Spectrum News on Wednesday.
Gruters said he talked with
President Donald Trump Tuesday night and said the President was excited about
the GOP candidates in place in Florida heading into the general election.

“It’s tough to be the
frontrunner for over a year, and that’s the position that [Donalds] had. But
listen, he handled it. He’s raising the resources,” said Gruters.
President Trump also made
several endorsements for congressional district races in the Sunshine State,
including Gruters’ wife, Sydney Gruters, in the 16th District, who
won.

Florida GOP nominees, attack Democratic opponents

The Republican National
Committee on Wednesday congratulated its nominees in Florida’s governor and
U.S. Senate races and four House districts, while immediately turning its
attention to the November election with sharp attacks on their Democratic
opponents.
RNC Chairman Joe Gruters
issued a series of statements hailing U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds’ victory in the
Republican gubernatorial primary and U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody’s win in the
special Senate election primary. He also praised GOP nominees in House Districts
9, 14, 22 and 25.
Donalds, a three-term
congressman endorsed by President Donald Trump, will face former Republican
U.S. Rep. David Jolly, now running as a Democrat. Gruters called Donalds a
“MAGA warrior” and labeled Jolly as “a far-left extremist who supports sex
change surgeries for kids and wants to turn the Free State of Florida into a
socialist hellscape.”
Moody, appointed to the
Senate after Marco Rubio became secretary of state, will face state Rep. Angie
Nixon, a far-left progressive who won a Democratic primary upset over Alex
Vindman. Republicans have portrayed Nixon as aligned with the Democratic Socialists
of America and an agenda that would harm the country.
