“We have the most incredible
challenge in front of us over the next couple of months, because only four
times in the last 150 years has the incumbent party been able to defend their
majorities, and I think we could do it.
“I think the President is
doing such an amazing job. He's done more things for… the average American in
this first year than most presidents could do in eight years, and his ability
to communicate with the base and to deliver the message [is] ultimately what we
need to do to bring these low propensity voters out in the midterms.
“I think we have a real good
chance to defy history, and I'm so excited and so thankful to have the
opportunity to be [RNC] Chairman at this time.”
Chairman Gruters on
President Trump’s Winning Message:
“I tell all these
[Republican] candidates to follow the President's lead, because if you follow
the President, we will win...
“We have the right
messaging, and we have the President himself, who already said he's willing to
barnstorm the country, and if there's anybody that could turn out the base,
he's already done it three times.
“I'm fully confident in
[President Trump’s] ability and our ability as a party to focus on the
fundamentals of turning out voters to make sure that we deliver the votes that
our candidates need...”
Chairman Gruters on the SAVE
America Act:
“84% of Americans want the
SAVE America Act passed. Of course, people want voter ID, and what we should
want, as all Americans should want, [is] to have the confidence in our election
system…
“And by not requiring proof
of citizenship, by not requiring voter ID… by allowing open ended elections
that last long after election day, you're undermining the system, and everybody
loses.”
Chairman Gruters on
Democrats Abandoning Working Americans:
“[Democrats are] pulling
their entire party to the left… they're no longer mainstream. At the end of the
day, the left is delusional…
“They used to fight for the
American worker. Now they've abandoned that because they don't like the
President.
“Everybody should be
rejoicing at the fact that President Trump has brought trillions of dollars
back in new investments to help middle America…”
