chairman predicts GOP will pick up seats in midterm elections: ‘Bet on us’

“Bet on us because we’re
going to win. We’re going to defy history,” Gruters said during a Monday
interview on Fox News, expressing confidence that Republicans will retain
control of the Senate and House despite a political environment that has
historically favored the party out of power.
“We have the candidates that
we’ve recruited,” he added. “We have the resources, most cash on the hand in
the history of the party ever, and then we have the best showman in the world,
Donald J. Trump.”

The RNC chairman argued that
candidate quality, party unity, and Republicans’ financial resources will allow
the party to overcome what he described as unfavorable historical trends.
“Yeah, we are going to win
everything, and it comes down to the candidate quality,” Gruters said. “What we
have is common sense on our side. They have craziness and these left-wing
mini-Mamdani radicals that, at the end of the day, voters are going to reject
because you know they want more mainstream candidates. That’s what we offer.”

“[Jon] Husted’s going to
win. [Mike] Rogers is going to win. [Susan] Collins is going to win. [Ken]
Paxton’s going to win,” Gruters said. “All these swing seats they’re talking
about, they’re red states.”

“We need the Republicans to
come together. We need to stand united on behalf of the president to make sure
he can serve his full four years,” Gruters said.

Gruters said voters should
look beyond individual polls and prediction market odds when evaluating the
state of the midterms. He pointed viewers toward the Cook Political Report,
describing it as a nonpartisan source for tracking competitive races.
“If you look at the Senate
side, it’s a 53-47 split. I think we win. I think we stay at 53, and maybe even
pick up a seat,” Gruters said. “On the House side, I think we’ll even do
better.”
