WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Republican
National Committee (RNC) approved the framework for the 2028 Republican
presidential nominating calendar, preserving the Republican Party’s traditional
early-state lineup used in previous cycles.
"As Republicans gather
in Dallas to keep our majorities and continue America's comeback, we're also
laying the groundwork for 2028," said RNC Chairman Joe Gruters.
"Today's vote preserves the path to the Republican presidential nomination
and gives our voters a strong voice in the process."
The approved framework
maintains the same early-state order used in previous presidential cycles:
Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina. No states were added, removed,
or reordered under the 2028 framework.
In February, the RNC adopted
the recommendations from the Presidential Nominating Process Committee, chaired
by Iowa GOP Chairman Jeff Kaufmann, to preserve the Republican Party’s
traditional carve-out system for 2028.
The only substantive change provides additional flexibility for states holding later contests regarding delegate allocation.
