WASHINGTON
D.C. – The Republican
National Committee (RNC) and the Arizona Republican Party (AZGOP) sent a public records request to the Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes demanding
answers surrounding a recent cybersecurity breach.
“Arizonans deserve clear answers and reassurance that their election systems
are secure,” said Chairman Michael Whatley. “A cyberattack on the
Arizona Secretary of State’s website is a serious matter with national security
implications. Secretary Fontes must be fully transparent about the origin of
the attack, what systems were compromised, and what actions are being taken to
mitigate the threat.”
"Arizonans deserve immediate transparency about the cybersecurity breach
that could undermine confidence in our elections," said AZGOP
Chairwoman Gina Swoboda. "This is not a partisan issue — it’s an issue
of trust and security. We expect swift and comprehensive cooperation from the
Secretary of State’s office."
