RNC Intervenes to Defend President Trump's Executive Order on Election Integrity

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Whatley released the following statement after the RNC intervened in a legal challenge to President Trump's Executive Order on Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections. 
 
"The DNC and other far-left groups are attacking the President’s efforts to secure our elections," said Chairman Whatley. "These radical groups are suing to block commonsense protections like requiring proof of citizenship to vote, cleaning up voter rolls, and ensuring mail-in ballots are received by Election Day. President Trump’s Executive Order is lawful, necessary, and focused on restoring trust in our elections. The RNC will fight alongside the Justice Department to protect the ballot and stop Democrats' attempts to make it easier to cheat."

• President Trump’s Executive Order directs the Election Assistance Commission to require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote, ensures mail-in ballots are received by Election Day, and directs agencies to clean up voter rolls.
• Left-wing groups like the DNC and LULAC are suing the Trump Administration in order to attack President Trump’s constitutional authority to secure our elections.
• The RNC has led over 170 election integrity cases to defend voter ID, citizenship requirements, mail ballot safeguards, and clean voter rolls, while also building a nationwide volunteer network to monitor and resolve issues at the polls in real time.
